Open-source first.
WordPress, ERPNext, Balena, Docker, Grafana, n8n — we choose tools that give you full ownership and zero vendor lock-in. Your code, your data, your infrastructure. The licence does not lapse if a vendor pivots.
ThingSmart is a boutique technology consultancy that designs, builds, and integrates the systems businesses depend on every day — from the website your customers see, through to the ERP, e-commerce, and IoT platforms running the operations behind it. Founded in 2020 and based in London, we work with small and medium enterprises across the United Kingdom and further afield.
Twenty-five years at the bench. A cross-platform systems engineer working with Linux, Windows, and network environments since 2000 — bare-metal, virtualisation, cloud migrations, CI/CD, and the operational discipline that holds them all together.
Before ThingSmart, Vedat spent years managing infrastructure for companies across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. The work spanned the deeply technical — datacentre buildouts, network documentation, observability — and the deeply practical — choosing tools an SME can actually afford to live with.
That operational discipline now anchors every engagement. Infrastructure as code. Automated deployment. Containerisation. Monitoring-first thinking. Applied not to whiteboards, but to the businesses ThingSmart serves.
Every service connects to the others. Your website feeds the CRM. Your store syncs with the ERP. Your IoT data flows into dashboards. We build it to work as one system, not seven.
WordPress, ERPNext, Balena, Docker, Grafana, n8n — we choose tools that give you full ownership and zero vendor lock-in. Your code, your data, your infrastructure. The licence does not lapse if a vendor pivots.
Your site, ERP, online store, IoT devices, and workflows should behave as one system. Disconnected tools produce disconnected data; we connect everything so the right hand knows what the left one is doing.
Ongoing maintenance, monitoring, updates, support. We do not hand over a project and disappear. Your systems stay fast, secure, and current — and you keep the person who built them on the other end of the line.
We run our own retail and manufacturing businesses. We do not theorise about operations — we live them.
A note on operational realityFrom embedded firmware to cloud dashboards to business websites. One team that understands every layer of your technology — and the joins between them.
Open-source means you pay for development and hosting — not per-user licences that quietly scale against you every time you hire.
Based in London, working with clients across the UK, EU, US, and Middle East. Every engagement is led by the founder directly — not a junior shopping the work out.
We run our own retail and manufacturing businesses. The operational reality behind the technology is not abstract to us — we live it every day, with our own balance sheets.
